Viva panettone is honored to announce that its traditional panettone won the North American elimination rounds in New York and was selected among the 30 international finalists who will present their panettone at the Panettone World Cup scheduled for November 2024 in Milan, Italy.

This is the second time Viva has been selected to participate in this prestigious competition. This time, the selection was even more difficult.
“I confess that we went through a whole range of emotions while the jury tasted the panettones blindly. In the United States, Italian gastronomy is very popular, and there are many good artisans who make excellent panettones,” explains Anthony Daniele, artisan, co-founder of Viva panettone and a Frenchman of Italian origin based in Quebec.
“That our panettone was selected among the two finalists warmed our hearts and confirmed the mission we set ourselves when founding Viva panettone: to allow Canadians to have access to fresh, high-quality traditional artisanal panettone adapted to the tastes of local consumers,” explains Eric Goeury, artisan, co-founder of Viva panettone and culinary ambassador for Quebec maple products.
Viva panettone’s panettone follows the Italian tradition. “It’s a tall panettone, the crumb is soft, and the flavors are impeccable,” adds Anthony. “If we manage to make a world-class panettone, it's undoubtedly due to the daily management of our mother yeast, which we maintain all year round. When the holiday season arrives, our sourdough is in Olympic shape. It's what gives the panettone its texture, its preservation, and also allows all the aromas to develop,” says Éric.
About the Panettone World Cup
Born from an idea by pastry chef Giuseppe Piffaretti, this biennial competition is dedicated to bakery and pastry professionals from around the world who have undergone regional pre-selection. For three days, the best pastry chefs in the world gather to share their love of panettone and compete for the title of rè del panettone.
Each participant must present six traditional Milanese-style panettones to the jury, weighing between 970g and 1030g each. Only the following ingredients are allowed: wheat flour, butter, egg yolk, sugar, raisins, candied lemon, arancini, honey, vanilla. Dry yeasts and other finished products are prohibited. The next edition of the Coppa Del Mondo del panettone will take place in Milan in November 2024.
