Stollen is a brioche bread originating from Germany, prepared at Christmas time since the 15th century.
Originally, its elongated shape covered with powdered sugar symbolized the swaddled infant Jesus. Over time, it has become a holiday staple, appreciated for its rich taste and soft texture.
Generously filled with candied fruits, raisins, almonds, and marzipan, it is brushed with melted butter then sprinkled with powdered sugar to give it that melting and slightly crispy finish all at once.
